During the past few weeks, billions of people all around the world have congregated in order to watch the world cup. It is consistently the most viewed program ever, and showcases the best athletes playing for their home countries, attempting to win the world. However, despite all the talent, popularity, and scale of the event, players continue practicing techniques used at the lowest levels of football. Flopping has become the face of football, and time and again athletes will dive to the floor and cling onto their legs rather than being tough and resilient. My goal was to capture the silliness and absurdity of flopping and how it seems that many players' primary goal is for the referee to give the other team yellow cards. My parody of the song Counting Stars by One Republic tries to contrast the immense pressure of the moment with the triviality of flopping in an amusing way. Sometimes these great athletes don't even play to score goals anymore, they play for yellow cards.
